Indymedia presents: Winstanley (the Diggers and St George's Hill) Mon 7 September / 7.45pm / £4 or £3 (but nobody refused for lack of funds) Winstanley – Andrew Mollo & Kevin Brownlow, UK / 1975 / 95 mins / cert 15 Join us and the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair Collective for this screening of a restored version of this important film from 1975. In the run up to the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair on 12 September, this film evokes some of the earliest examples of anarchist thought and practice. Indeed the occupations by the Diggers have been described by some as the first anarcho-communist revolution in history. The context of the film will be introduced by Steve Mills, a local trade union activist and Bristol radical historian. read full story / add a comment

Here's a quote from our editorial guidelines: "Occasionally we must hide postings that do not adhere to the Open Publishing Guidelines (Note these hidden articles should be viewable by going to the hidden articles page - however at present a software bug prevents this). Very rarely volunteers may also decide to delete articles posted to Bristol Indymedia. " Full guidelines here: http://bristol.indymedia.org.uk/editorial.php read full story / add a comment

Bristol Indymedia now gets nearly as many hits per day as the Evening Post website! If you do a 'Bristol' google on UK pages only, BIMC comes out at around 8th place or better, and then jostles for position with the Evening Post's 'This Is Bristol' website on busier days. Join in the movement to democratise the media, and publish your news story now! It's only a click away (click the 'Submit An Article' / 'Publish' button) and your story will appear on the right hand newswire within minutes of posting. read full story / add a comment

Lambasted in Venue's letters page (issue 584) by Michael Green as 'extremist anti-Zionist ideologues' and 'supporters of Hamas and Islamic Jihad' the Bristol Palestinian Solidarity Campaign has obviously raised some hackles. So what are the hardcore of the group like in person? Tagging along with the Bristol PSC as they trek from Bristol to Bath raising money to send medical aid to the occupied territories, your intrepid IMC Volunteer braves blisters to bring you a sketch of this, now controversial, group. read full story / add a comment
