Help needed to slow traffic in Easton

category bristol | the environment | news report author Sunday October 28, 2012 08:45author by nickleberryauthor email jandamarra at riseup dot net Report this post to the editors

This is a call for a help. Bristol City Council has recently proposed to introduce traffic-calming measures for the area around Westminster Road, Whitehall.

I live in this area and my son attends the local school - Whitehall Primary - that backs onto the bike path. These measures would be, I think, BRILLIANT. They would stop through-traffic, they would restrict car parking, they would restrict stopping around the school... they even include planting trees.

The proposal is currently open for public comment. I would greatly appreciate it if you, and anyone else you know in Bristol, were to write in support of "the proposals to calm traffic around Westminster Road" to

Andrew.spicer@bristol.gov.uk

or call Andrew on 0117 903 6819 and tell him YES YES YES!

Just one sentence in support would be enough (see the bottom of this article for an example). Please include your address if you live in Bristol.
These sorts of proposals receive relatively little feed-back, so your help with this is likely to make a big difference.

***Extra points if you want more info****

  1. Full details about the proposals are here.
  2. Please tell your friends. We have until THIS COMING FRIDAY 2ND NOVEMBER to give feedback.
  3. We know at least one joker has started petitioning AGAINST these proposed measures, so there is a real chance they'll fail if we don't get our act together. God knows what this person thinks they're doing - defending their right to drive their car anywhere they damn well please I guess.
  4. If you've not time to write your own email, you could cut and paste this:

Andrew.spicer@bristol.gov.uk
Dear Andrew,
I support the proposed traffic-calming measures for the Westminster Road area.
Yours sincerely,
