UK Anarchist Bookfair

UK Anarchist Bookfair
The Bristol Bookfair's bigger & older sister in London holds their annual jamboree on Saturday 27 October, from 10am to 7pm.
Some of the Bristol bookfair crew will be along to help out on the day, whilst other Bristolians will be taking their stalls along the M4 to London, and even more will be joining the international throng to catch speakers and campaigns from far and wide.
With the worldwide economic crisis gathering speed, not least across the EU, there is not unsurprisingly a strong emphasis this year on alternative economic ideas to capitalism, as well as a focus on resisting oppression internationally, not least in eastern Europe/Russia. Also of interest will be a speaker from the South African shack dwellers movement Abahlali base Mjondolo, who originated around the squatter camps of Durban in 2005 (also speaking in Bristol at The Cube on 6 November - see calendar). Plus there'll be dozens of presentations from campaign groups, and political talks, alongside films, cabaret and kids spaces. All the details of whats on are at http://anarchistbookfair.org.uk/
If you cant wait until the next Bristol Bookfair in May 2013 then pop on down for an inspiring day, and if you need to stretch your legs you can always nip down to Walthamstow and remind the edl march there that day what Bristol thought of them last July!
The London Bookfair venue is Queen Mary, University of London, Mile End Road, London, E1 4NS.
If you are coming by public transport the following buses stop near the college on Mile End Road: 25, 205, 339.
If you are coming by tube the two nearest stations are Mile End (central line / Hammersmith & City line or District line) or Stepney Green (Hammersmith & City line or District line).
