You might want to make sure that you re-house them in pairs if you have concern for their welfare.
Ha. Some people's political priorities confuse me. How many people in Bristol live in substandard or overcrowded housing? How many homeless or facing eviction or repossession? And you spend your time campaigning to house chicken?
Slaughter them all; feed the hungry. Then get on with some real politics . . .
Chickens are an excellent source of cheap protein as well as being enjoyale to keep. Providing food for yourself is political. To suggest that keeping chickens is done at the expense of solving homelessness is about the the most bizaar thing anyone could suggest.
Cheers stuffit, Id suggest that "A Human writes" should check out the conditions of a modern battery farm,or for that matter one of the so called free range farms...grim as fuck! I helped rehome hens from another battery farm that was closeing down before and it was something i'll never forget. I personally try to direct my activism towards animal liberation and anarchism,im pleased to see, and hope to encourage the cross over between both movements. Liberation for all not just the workers init!
I'd suggest the film 'earthlings' for more info on Animal rights ( you can watch it on our site http://www.bristolanimalrights.org.uk/earthlings/ )
and for more info on anarcho veganism i'd recomend the exellent book by Bob Torres called "Makeing a killing, the political economy of animal rights' availlable from AK press.
Cheers to B.indy for putting my call out on the front page -nice one
"Ha. Some people's political priorities confuse me. How many people in Bristol live in substandard or overcrowded housing?"
Why do you think this is a priority, that's your words nobody elses. Its just as important as finding places to live for homeless people.
"Slaughter them all; feed the hungry. Then get on with some real politics . . . "
You can't be serious, slaughter homeless people and chickens? Get real!
Just because animals (human and non-human) are a source of food doesn't mean everybody should go around eating each other! That's purely ridiculous.
I would prefere nobody be slaughtered for anyone. Black, white, homeless or non-human.
There they will provide some good nourishment for the one and a half million human battery hens, also awaiting further slaughter, property of farmer Zion.
one chickens genocide is another humans dinner
