For years now Trago Mills have been running racist articles in local newspapers. Here’s their latest, from the Falmouth Packet:
"'For any cash-strapped Moslems reading this...
I have a potential money-spinner for you. On the quiet, with no public announcement whatsoever, the Labour government in December 2007 formally recognised multiple wives, as long as the ceremony took place in a country where polygamy is legal... Islamic law allows a man up to four wives (‘‘harem’’) and according to new guidelines from the Department of Work and Pensions: 'Where there is a valid polygamous marriage the claimant and one spouse will be paid the couple rate... The amount payable for each additional spouse is presently £33.65''... Income support for the 'harem' may be paid into the husband's bank account. He may also be in line for extra housing benefit and council tax benefit, reflecting the larger property needed for his family... Moslem readers may also be interested to know that there is a possible loophole where the man can divorce his wife under British law, continue living with her as his spouse under Islamic law, and then marry a new wife here in Britain, with everybody still claiming benefit. Please remember that bigamy is supposed to be a criminal offence in this country...Chris Grayling, Tory shadow minister, called this ''completely unjustifiable'', adding: ''this sets a precedent that will lead to more demands for the culture of other countries to be reflected in UK law.'' ... Mr. Grayling is right. But when a government embraces the lunacy of multiculturalism, the above is inevitable. Why are we so surprised?

In 1998 the ASA upheld readers' complaints against newspaper adverts for Trago Mills shopping centres in Devon and Cornwall after ads describing homosexuals as “poofters” saying the young should be protected from “this foul minority” were printed. The family who own the company openly support the UKIP.

Yes I hear what you are saying, and yes the article is worded in an inflammatory way, but Islam is NOT a race. It is a religion and IMO no religion should be above criticism or above the law. And yes that goes for Christians, Jews, Scientologists, Moonies and Wiccans too.
Despite the offensive tone to the article and the fact that most immigrants work twice as hard as the average Brit, I do think that the author makes some valid points.
I fear that unless this government stops bending over backwards to accomodate "religious freedom" we are going to end up with a fascist government along the lines of the BNP, as nobody else is prepared to say enough is enough, and do what should have been done years ago: abolition of ALL blasphemy laws and ALL religious schools, and to make a stand as a secular state whose laws cannot be contested by some overpaid EU lawyer or pampered academic in the House of Lords who havent got a clue what life is like outside.
And as a gay woman I do not want to have to make a choice between a fascist state ruled by bigots and homophobes, and a fascist state run by religious bigots and homophobes.
Nasty and crass stuff but as said above not racsist.
I fear the writer may indeed be racist but mocking religion is entirely rational and I rue the day that religous groups are given protection from mockery under law.
All religous people should be mocked for believing so much mumbled nonsense.
I'm sure there must be a law that prohibits this from a 'business', freedom of speech is fine and good for the individual and group thereof but I'm sure this must breach some kind of work-place policy.
That said, I happen to agree with the view expressed in this article by the UKIP member on the the 'lunacy of multiculturalism', but in the contect that some of things the government does to placate the various non-indegious races verges on 'lunacy', I'm up for equality and the rejection of racism, don't get me wrong, but when it comes down to it the people that migrate into our country should not have the governments money thrown at them while others without such an exotic blend of origins are passed by. If I choose to go to the cinema I am prepared to buy the extortionately priced food, if they come to our country they can bloody well sustain themselves as well.
Put up, shut up or get out.
Disgusting, and the latest in a long line of hate propoganda coming out of Trago. They have already had a compliant with the ASA uptaken when they chose to write homophobic editorial adverts. I've blogged about this current outrage with some background info, follow my related link.
One of your people has objected to my recent Trago piece about State benefits for polygamous Islamic marriages, calling it racist and offensive.
Let’s get a few things straight: the article was based on reports in the Daily Mail, Sunday Telegraph, and Times newspapers. There was no hint of racism. The mention of Islam and Muslems was strictly factual. Or is the complainant disputing that a Muslem can come to this country with a harem of wives, and claim state benefits for each of them? The taxpayer, of course, picks up the tab for this. As for giving offence, I find it offensive that ill-informed correspondents can flounder around with false accusations of racism.
Of the estimated 1.25 million readers of the Column (which has been running for 40 years) I am unaware of a single complaint from any Muslem reader. Far from criticising Islam, the article clearly castigated our idiotic Labour government (and by implication the ‘useful idiots’ of the progressive left) who have embraced the lunacy of multiculturalism. This is an old tactic. Ignore the genuine complaint. Invent another.
While we’re on the subject, the UK Independence Party makes no apology for condemning multiculturalism as a naïve and doomed social experiment. A gang of skinheads in an Indian restaurant, guzzling lager, tucking into curry, and bellowing: “Oi, Gunga din,” to the waiter, might be sampling exotic cuisine of the east, but are hardly a great example of multiculturalism (despite the words of the late Robin Cook MP, who was once jolly pleased that tikka masala had been named the nation’s favourite dish, thereby celebrating ‘the advance of multiculturalism’.)
This has nothing to do with race or skin colour and should not be confused with multiracialism. UKIP has many members of so-called ethnic minorities (some of them MEP candidates) who would not thank these few complainants for their patronising and arrogant attitude. Refutation by denigration is the easiest thing in the world, showing intellectual laziness and intolerance. I have a simple message for these complainants: if you don’t like the Trago Column, don’t read it.
At the moment we still have a comparatively free press. For all our sakes, let us hope that people such as your contributor never get their hands on it.

First, a confession: I haven't read the article in question. But if David's comment above is anything to go by, I'm not missing much. Let's go through it a bit at a time:
The mention of Islam and Muslems was strictly factual. Or is the complainant disputing that a Muslem can come to this country with a harem of wives, and claim state benefits for each of them? The taxpayer, of course, picks up the tab for this. As for giving offence, I find it offensive that ill-informed correspondents can flounder around with false accusations of racism.
For fuck's sake, David, learn to spell. If you're going to write an article about a group of people you might want to do a little research. So, let's talk about Muslims.
I am entirely confused by your reference to state benefits. David, it's not true that Muslims are streaming into this country claiming benefits on some sort of special program designed to offend Daily Mail readers. Oh, that it were true. People apply for benefits based on eligibility criteria which have nothing to do with race. Take a deep breath and face facts: Muslims are not getting a special deal; they are getting the same deal as the rest of us.
Well I say that. Actually, of course, there are plenty of Muslims (and Christians and Jews and atheists) who apply for asylum in this country and they aren't getting the same deal at all. No, they're getting a worse deal. As I've mentioned on another thread, applicants for asylum are forced by the government into surviving on (an entirely inadequate level of) benefits because the government won't allow them to work. So why don't you save your mealy-mouthed carping for the government's fucked-up rules rather than for the people who are the victims of those rules?
Jesus Christ. Do you really think that `multiculturalism' is a policy promoting boorishness in restaurants? Your notion of multiculturalism seems so utterly confused that I'm not surprised you don't like it. If it involves twats indulging in racial stereotyping then I don't either.
On the other hand I do like the fact that the people on my street can trace their history from all over God's good earth. I do like the fact that this country (at its best) allows people to celebrate their culture with those around them, revelling in the richness and variety of the human experience. I am proud that we have a history of welcoming people into this country when they need asylum, or hospitality; and it saddens me greatly when people try and undermine this glorious heritage.
You see this country has a long history of multiculturalism; not since the Romans wandered back to Rome has any one culture had the monopoly on this island. Angles, Saxons and Jutes came over here in waves. The Vikings and Normans have left their mark. Muslims from Africa, Spain and the Middle East have been visiting, and living on, these islands for centuries. And in more recent years, these migrations have diversified and added to the existing mix. All of these people are English; indeed in a very real sense they are England.
So when you criticise multiculturalism, you're criticising England. And when you begrudge people their right to participate in English society, you're betraying a heritage of hospitality that lies right at the heart of what it means to be English. Perhaps, patriot, it's time for you to think again.
I feel David's little post lacks any coherence or logic. First off he states that multiculturalism has failed - but defines it is his own narrow terms of an Indian restaurant. The fact that Indian restaurant's exist so far and wide across the land and so many people go there and the fact that they are so popular and the food they serve is a fusion of Indian and British ideas - is, well, a huge success story.
That some people who go there are racist to the waiters says nothing more that they are racists - and it is not like racism did not exist before multiculturalism, is it? It did and lots more of it.
Sure the UK is not a utopia, but there is less racism now that 50 years ago, we are not riven by race riots (thankfully rare) - so by that measure multiculturalism is a success, IMHO.
Now apply David's logic to UKIP - as in it is a party seeking to distance itself from the EU - and we are more integrated than event before, which makes the UKIP project a total failure?
Still, UKIP are busy infighting as they did over Kilroy-Silk, so while they are busy attacking each other, we can get on with our lives without thier interfenence. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_Independenc...anges
Who are the 'non-indegious' people? Saxons - they aren't native to the UK. Angles? Normans? Norse?
Let's go with Luke's statement - all non-Celts and Picts need to put up, shut up or get out of the land - yes that means you Anglo-Saxons! (Joke).
I suspect Luke is trying to say 'black' but lacks any understanding of which he speaks, so is just saying undercover racist statements. Great advert for UKIP this; 'UKIP - the New Nasty Party, Racism for the 21st Century!'
I know I comment a bit late in the day but still I feel the comment is in need!!!
David Challice's article is purely factual and has noting to do with race or religion, I have noticed it is quite common for most to interpret anything of the like as racism which is clearly unfounded.
What I get from the comment is Mr Challice is trying to state that Multiculturalism has been a big mistake to this country and his article is stating how unfair the system has become, pandering to different race or religion and weakening the law to accomadate othersonly creates unfairness within a community. People of a country in this case Great Britain should all be treated equal and if anyone doesn't like or want this method then best not settle in a country that doesn't accomatate them.
The Conservative have even stated that MultiCulturalism hasn't worked!!!
